Composition Project Outline
Step 1: Take photos
For your first project you are to find and photograph a minimum of 2 scenes that illustrate the following composition tips:
- Leading lines
- Contrast
- Rule of thirds
- Framing the subject
- Texture
- Depth
- Filling the frame
- Symmetrical balance
Try to always include a clear focal point in each shot. Before you press the shutter release button ask yourself
“what is the focal point in this picture?”
The reason a focal point is important is that when you look at an image you generally need a “resting place” or something of interest to hold your attention. Without it you’ll find people will simply glance at your shots and then move on.
Step 2: Import Photos to Lightroom
You are NOT going to edit the photos at all for this first assignment. However, you still need to import them from your SD card to a folder on your D drive.
Step 3: Discuss in small group
Form a group with 3 other people and show your photos. Decide which photos to submit for assessment.
Step 4: Create an album using Google Photos
Open Google Photos. Upload your photos and then create an album. Label each of the photos with the topic demonstrated. Share your album with me.
Step 5: Import
Choose your best photo and prepare your answers for the oral critique.
